The Book

In Mindful Medicine, physician, integral psychotherapist and author Mette Mouritsen shares her own story of spiritual awakening and provide a holistic understanding of the body together with a practical approach. It represents a paradigm shift in thinking about the human as a coherent energetic body in a coherent eneregetic system;it shows how symptoms are messages to be understood and not necessarily enemies that must be removed. It is Mouritsen’s hope that we can transform difficult and common human emotions, by understanding them as “energy in motions”, and turn them into life affirming energy that promote our health and well-being.

Rather than looking at another person through a learned medical, psychological, and mostly fixed lens, she invites us to stand right at the edge—to explore the other person’s psychological and physiological landscape as totally unknown ground, as deeply unique, in attempt to find meaning and to support what might be called for in the symptom of pain and suffering. Touching and being touched by many hearts, Mette guides us in consciousness. What a gift!

REVIEWS

A rare and most welcomed medical book about love,

love for the universal uniqueness in each of us, and love for life itself.

Grounded in medical and psychological knowledge and experience, Mette points us towards the importance of not-knowing and the willingness to be curiously interested in the sacred uniqueness of another being, through deep empathic listening and seeing, including all levels of body, mind, soul.

Rather than looking at another person through a learned medical, psychological, and mostly fixed lens, she invites us, gently and firmly, to dare stand right at the edge; to explore the other persons psychological and physiological landscape as totally unknown ground, as deeply unique, in attempt to find meaning and to support what might be called for, longed for, in the symptom of pain and suffering. And further, to trust and use the body’s inherent ability for self-regulating and healing. In the symptom is the Soul…

As people, we are open systems under the influence of other people as well as plants, animals, air and water. We are formed through our many relations, and by the air we breathe, the food we eat, the way we engage openly or closed in life. We are social beings deeply influenced by, and influencing, the ever-changing multi-dimensional system that continuously affect and shapes our body and mind landscape.

Because we all are our own poetry uniquely expressed in life, we can only really open to ‘know another person’, and thus support her/him, through the willingness to be deeply curious from our heart and our innermost being –  open, humble, vulnerable, empowered, free and deeply connected.

Mette has this heartfelt curiosity and willingness to really support another, not just from her clinical knowledge and professional abilities, but through all of her felt and sensed experiences, including her innermost, her core of Being.

Touching and being touched by many hearts, Mette guides us in Consciousness.

What a gift!
